Five Things on Fire Pits | All You Need to Know

What’s so good about a fire pit?

Fire pits and fire pit tables are essential for making more of time spent in your garden. From sitting out after dark to enjoying your outdoor space well into late autumn, or even early winter, fire pits give you the confidence and comfort to embrace all times of day, at all times of year.

In years gone by, we would have bonded by gathering around campfires to share our stories. Modern-day fire pits are no different. Providing a natural focal point for parties with friends or family dinners, they create a natural ambience and set the scene for spending time together, under the stars.

What do I need to know before I buy?

Fire pit tables do require some maintenance to keep them in good condition. We recommend a furniture cover to keep out dust, dirt and rain, especially through the winter months. And, once cooled, a good wipe down of the table and protective glass, after every use, will ensure you’re all ready to go for the next time.

What about safety?

Fire pits should be around 10 feet from the house and away from low-hanging leaves and branches. Make sure you are using the correct gas source, a 5kg patio gas bottle, checking for damage or cracks before each use, and disconnecting the hose when you’ve finished. When packing away your firepit for longer periods, the gas bottle must be completely disconnected and stored outdoors in a well-ventilated area. When entertaining, make sure nothing is dropped into, or attempted to be retrieved from, the fire when it’s on and the rocks are hot. And of course, never leave a firepit unattended, especially around children and pets.

What do I put in the bottom of a fire pit?

Our fire pit tables come with lava rocks which line the bottom of the fire pit tray, they help spread the heat evenly and protect the gas pipe. They also have a nice, natural look which adds to the overall fire effect.

Can I use my fire pit table for cooking?

Absolutely. Our fire pit griddles are cast iron and can be used to make anything from skewers to steak. We have some delicious recipes for you to try. With the griddles fixing perfectly on top of the fire pit glass, you can cook easily, without having to rush back and forth from the kitchen to continuously check on food. Leaving you to relax and enjoy the company of your family and friends.
