A Winter Lease of Life

Our tips for enjoying your garden this Winter

It’s time for a tidy up

Winter is a great time to give your garden a good clean and tidy. Chances are not much has been done for the last few months, so your patio (and pots) may be looking a bit green and grimy. Giving everything a good sweep and scrub will make areas look brighter even on the cloudiest of days – a fresh lick of paint on fences and wood work and a sweep of dead leaves can work wonders.

Create a beautiful seating area

Relaxing outside all year round will be made even easier with comfortable furniture. If you take care of your sofas, tables and chairs there’s no reason why you should put them away for half of the year. An inviting outdoor setting such as an Indigo Sofa Set on your patio will encourage you outside whatever the weather.

Accessorise with blankets and pillows

As with your furniture, embrace the Danish art of Hygge and create an even cosier seating area with outdoor cushions and rugs. Not only will they look beautiful and inviting, they will help keep you warm. Mixing bright colours with season-proof fabrics will cheer up the space, and textures such as sheepskin and knit will give a beautifully Nordic feel. Keep cosy with a firepit table Adding a firepit set to your garden is a great way to make the outdoors inviting when it’s cold. With our Ascot and Monterey firepit sets, you can simply turn on the gas to light the coals, relax into the sumptuous season-proof cushions and enjoy the warmth.

Use your outdoor lights all year

Keep your outdoor lights hanging all year round – they always look fabulous and will cheer up the garden, particularly in winter when it gets dark early. Put out bird food As well as being in the fresh air and seeing the trees, being around native wildlife is a massive mood booster. Make sure the Robins, Chaffinches and Goldfinches keep returning by putting out speciality winter bird food in and around your seating area – just make sure it’s not too close to the house.

Invest in good furniture covers

If you’re planning on using your garden furniture through the Winter months, our high quality covers make it easy to uncover the furniture and get your seating area set-up and cosy quickly.

Outdoor dining

There’s nothing nicer than enjoying a hot drink outside, wrapping your hands around a warm mug and drinking in the heat.

Encourage children to get outside too

Children and grandchildren will also reap the benefits of getting outside in Winter. Entice them with hot water bottles, hot drinks and of course toasting marshmallows on the fire.
