For Father's Day | Out to Celebrate

Father's Day is the perfect opportunity to recognise the fathers, and father figures, who play important roles in our lives. Make it his turn to feel cared for with these simple ideas on creating a Father’s Day to remember.

Decorative Displays

Add a sense of occasion with some thoughtful decorations. Try balloons or streamers in a colour palette that complements your outdoor space, or in his favourite colours. A homemade sign or banner from children or grandchildren would add a sweet touch. Then simple string festoon lights from low branches or along walls and fencing to create a welcoming atmosphere as the sun goes down.

Relax and Rest

Give him the day off with some quiet time in a quiet place. Create a sanctuary made for one, complete with his favourite book, magazines or newspaper. And allow him some time to unwind surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. Or if he’d rather be surrounded by his favourite people, arrange a comfortable seating area where everyone can come to him with his special snacks and drinks. Add some cushions and throws and he can stay put to feel special all day long.

Time Together

Often spending uninterrupted time with you is all that’s needed to feel cherished. Perhaps it’s planting new flowers or creating a vegetable patch together. If he’s more competitive than creative, a game of tennis or badminton on the lawn, could be just the thing. Just be sure to tidy everything away so he’s not left cleaning up toys and tools on his special day.

Dining with Dad

Brunch, lunch or dinnertime can be made extra special by cooking up a course or two, together over the grill. Use a tabletop firepit and griddle to make a meal without even leaving the table. Add his favourite fresh salads and sides, for a delicious non-fuss feast.

Favourite Flowers

Create an arrangement of cut flowers from the garden, displayed in vases on your dining or side table. Not only will this bring a lovely pop of colour but will add a much more personal and thoughtful touch to the celebrations.
